Dhruv Patel (b. 1996) is an Indian sculptor whose work explores the deep connections between humans and the animal world. Holding both a bachelor's and master's degree in visual arts from MSU, Baroda, Dhuv brings a unique sensitivity to his sculptures, infusing them with realism and emotional depth. His art focuses on the shared emotions and instincts between species, using sculptural narratives to highlight our interconnectedness. Dhruv's current body of work centers on Langurs, particularly Black-Headed Monkeys, where he merges human and primate characteristics to create hybrid forms. These figures serve as metaphors for our shared desires, vulnerabilities, and instincts, encouraging viewers to reconsider their relationship with nature. Themes of environmental consciousness, human-animal relationships, and introspection are central to his practice. His evocative sculptures challenge us to acknowledge the delicate balance that sustains all living beings, urging a deeper appreciation of the natural world.
